oooh, goodie goodie....If I can get the bird done in time I can go up against Mike in Daytona...

Of course I'll be missing about half of my equipment still and I'm currently only getting started on my 5th revision of how I want the car to be built :\

Lookin good so far.

Are you still keeping the sub in the rear quarter?

What did you end up using to texture the dash kit?

AND last but not least...

You mixed epoxy resin with polyester bondo????? Are you sure that will hold up?

the dash piece is textured with SEM texture spray, it matches the dash texture pretty close.

The sub is going in the passenger side quarter panel, with the amps where they are, there is no room for a sub in the driver side.

The filling of the trim ring is as follows:
1st layer is epoxy resin with fiberglass cloth. Then, I filled in about 1/4" of bondo to fill up just shy of the top. The, more epoxy, mixed with glass spheres, fills in the top to bond to the plastic. I just used bondo in the middle to get a quick build up, however, I am thinking of remaking the piece our of 100% epoxy, just cutting out the bondo center and starting over, just to ensure there is no splitting, but it has held up so far.

Heh, I'm still missing EQ's, front stage, and various install parts (new battery, neons, etc ...). A lot of work ahead. Must sell kickpanels !!

you doing pro street 0-600 ?

Yes on the pro street 1-600

Well, if you have that piece already made and if you are worried about the seperation, just make a mold off of that piece and redo it out of all epoxy...if you make the mold right you will retain the texture, the texture will be more "permenant" and not wear down since it's in the glass and you'll never have to worry about the compatability problem (hrmm, DJSexay's custom 4th gen dash kit...$50 each)

otherwise just add talc to your epoxy mix to make your own epoxy filler rather than bondo...

Let's see, I'm still missing my processor (IDOne not released yet), 8's, horns, 5's and sub...

I've got enough to make a temporary system from my last show car and just replace pieces later in the season, but don't know if I want to go through that hassle as opposed to doing it correctly the first time.

Need to sell off these EQT's and PPI xover to get the money for the IDOne.

yeah, I did mix some fine glass powder to the epoxy to make it thicker, but not enough that is was real paste like. I'm at least redoing the center of the trim ring, cause when I made the opening with my router, my template bent a little and made the hole bigger. I't's not a 1 din, but actually will flush around the flip down face of the head unit.

Good luck with finishing you project up as well. I look forward to meeting and competing with you in Daytona.
