a challenge for all you gurus out there.....
Ok fellas... I just finished stripping the interior out of my 81 firebird, and I'm planning on transplanting the stereo components from it into my 92 T/A 'vert. All this stuff was in the 81, didn't cost me anything extra, and I'd like to utilize as much of it as possible. My question- what would be the ideal setup for these components.. i.e. placement, etc? Here's the list:
1 BOSS BA-3000 300W amp
1 BOSS BA-US300 640W amp
2 Pioneer TS-A6965 6x9s, 200W
2 MTX 5" subs
2 Jensen 105W 5" speaks
2 Premier TS-603 Passive Crossovers
2 Premier Tweets- unsure of model # or power rating
I am planning on buying some larger subs to put in the trunk to go along with the system as well.... I'm new to this whole thing, so I'm not sure what type to get. I'm not looking for show quality stuff, just a clean install and a good full range system. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

eek, this gonna be a bit hard. the boss stuff is kinda, um, sketchy? not really the best, but work with what you've got. if anything, you should put the 640w amp on a single 10 or 12 in the well. the 300w would go for some components up front, which you sorta have. make some kickpanels and put the tweeters and 5" (mtx subs? do you mean mids?) in the kicks using the crossovers. put the 6x9s in the back (i dont know if you have that in a vert. if not, fabricate somethin to fit the 5" speakers if you can. if thats what you've got to work with, thats what i think should work. i highly suggest upgrading this stuff if you get the cash, but we've all got our priorities. now get working!
First of all, let's deal with the subs. Build a sturdy box that will have the drivers firing into the rear seats, and the amp rack will go in front of that, facing the rear of the trunk area, nice 'n pretty. I would definitly upgrade the subs, 2 10" of good quality, such as Kicker Solo Bariks should work fine. Next to go is the 6X9 speakers. Remove the stock speakers, use them as a template to make a 1/4" MDF baffle, and replace them with a good 5 1/4" co-axial, since you won't need the bass because of the subs. The 5" drivers should go low in the door panels, and the tweets in the kick panels, aimed roughly at the dome light for a start. The passive crossovers can fit neatly into the kick panels. Use the amps as they were used in the original system, sub amp for subs, and the other for the speakers. Have fun.

Sorry, I agree with iazr as far as cutting into door panels and such is concerned, but the pic wasn't up on the original post
You can still mount the component speakers in the stock locations in the doors, and simply fabricate a tweeter mounting bracket out of a radio back strap painted black that will hang the tweet right in front of the mid-bass driver, and fit behind the factory door panel. The sub box and amp rack I described earlier will do no harm to the car, and neither will the upgraded 6X9's.
All of this is a matter of choice, if you want great audio, and you own the car and don't plan to re-sell it, then weigh your options as far as permanent modifications go, but it is possible to have good sound without having to alter the interior of your car. Whatever you choose to do, I would seek out an experienced installer to do the work. Nice ride, BTW.
