Tell me if this is correct

Ok so I go over to my friedns house today to look at his 2 12's , he says the sound bad. SO i quickly find that A.) they are in truck boxes and B.) the handle( where u lift the box up) is missing.

Now he says he bought them frm the store like taht and they are saposed to be that way. Im thinking no, well wait I know there not asposed to be that way.

What I wanna know is Am i right in assuming this is what is making the subs sound like ****.

Lack of a seal or letting too much air out?

If there is air leaking out of the holes where the handle should be it would make a difference. another thing to look at is that those truck boxes probably don't have the volume in them that the subs probably want. Probably a little on the small side but without seeing them I'm just guessing.

If you're talking about a hole about 2" x 4" or so where a handle used to be, that gaping hole in the box is what is making the sub sound like crap.
