Canadians ONLY
Race?
Nationally exclusive, maybe...
Seriously though, it can be really hard to find good shops in Canada. Or at least around here. Honestly, I get most of my stuff from the States online off of ebay and such. It's still probably the cheapest way to get stuff, as long as it's in Canada to avoid customs.
As for stores, generally speaking, your best bet for quality car audio is to go to an independent, car audio-focussed dealer. Build up a repetoire, maybe you can get some deals. Other than that, there are the bigger chains that carry anything from crap to top notch stuff. You just have to figure out which is which
Here's the Canadian rundown as of this year. I believe that most of these places are cross-Canada chains, but I don't know about Newfoundland locations. At least you could order from these places without paying customs:
A&B Sound: this year they're carrying JL, Alpine, Kenwood, Panasonic, Sony, and probably some other stuff but those are the major players. You can ge some cheap prices on stuff, but they're more middle of the pack than anything else.
Visions Electronics: In the last two years they added Rockford Fosgate and then Kicker. They also carry Orion (only stock Cobalt and Xtreme stuff in-store, but you can order HCCA series through them), Kenwood, Pioneer, JVC, and some others I think I'm forgetting. Be careful, though. They also stock "Ultimate" and Hollywood" gear: crap. Can be pricier than A&B, but considering the fact that they're a chain, they have some pretty decent brands.
Beamriders: don't know if there are a lot of these places around, but they're a chain, they have some interesting stuff, and they're really good installers. Last time I checked, they were carrying mid-level Audiobhan, JL, and another decent brand or two.....
Future Shop: Just got bought out by the U.S. company "Best Buy". They stock some entry/mid-ish level stuff: the cheaper lines of Infinity, MTX, Polk, and Kenwood (but I guess you could order the better stuff), and then JVC, Sony, Clarion, Pioneer, and uhhhhh road gear...
London Drugs, Canadian Tire, etc.: Yeah, I know they have electronics departments... PLEASE don't buy car audio from these places...
Anyway, hope all this helps. Good luck.

Regardless, all I was saying was that if you're gonna buy car audio, then you may as well pick it up from a place that pays at least some sort of attention to that kind of thing. At Canadian Tire you buy car audio over the autoparts counter from a hack who doesn't even feign interest in the stuff.
But do what thou whilst...
