Looking good!
I can't wait to see it when your done. By the way is that closer amp an Alpine too? And are you going to be able to sit in your back seat after your done?
I wish I trusted my carpentry skills enough to rip into my back seat.

Yep their both Alpine amps. I have everything roughly put together to check fit and etc. As for being able to set in the back seat I had to completely cut out the whole area where the Amp Rack is inorder for the padding to fit. I plan to get a 2 inch thick foam that would cover the whole front side. I'm going to use neons, lexan, and run new power wire and speaker wire and etc. so I still have alot of work to do.

sometimes the neon lights being near your amps cause a little noise to enter the speakers. just FYI, but looks good. I am planning on doing that with mine so i can put my pioneer amp back in my car, get the kicker amp off my back shelf and store my t-tops back in there. Lemme know how much of a pain it is for when i try it

I used 1x4's so I could have plenty of depth for the neons but I wasn't thinking about that. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks Tim------------------

I just got my plexiglass installed. I used 1/16th thickness since it was going to be mounted to the inside of the rack. So I didnt have to worry about the strenght. The glass shop didn't have any tinted plexi so I had to buy some tint and tint it myself.
The plexi covers the sides and the back of the rack. Going good so far!

Ok, Neon in an amp rack is fine as long as you only have the neon on when the system is off.
Neon transformers put out a very high frequency bleed that WILL play through your amps to your highs even if you can't hear it. Trust me, it's there.
Take a lit neon tube and bring it close to a tweeter while it's playing. You will generally hear slight crackling or poping.
This can be harmful to your highs.
On that note, looking good so far!

By the way, if you have never drilled plexi before (for mounting the amps)
Do not apply any more weight than the weight of the drill and your hand to steady it. It will take a little time for the bit to work it's way through the plexi, but it will generally prevent cracking. If you try to force the bit through, you will end up cracking that nice new plexi.
Another tip is to place a piece of masking tape on the glass before you drill it. This give you a good surface to mark for your hole and will prevent the bit from walking away on you when you start to drill...you don't want a nice gouge in your new plexi do you?
Just some tips if you haven't worked with plastics before.

Funny that you mentioned that because right after I posted the pic I was drilling holes for my wires to run through and cracked it!
I went and bought another piece ($8.00) and tried it again. I got it right this time.
Besides drilling individual holes for each wire I drilled larger 1" holes like one for the Power and Ground, one for Speaker Wires, and one for the Patch Cables. Now I need some kind of Grommets to put into these holes. Any ideas? Here's another pic.

Looks good. Looks real good. I'm not a fan of the flashy bling bling stereo installs but it's all a matter of opinion. You're going to have a hard time getting the cushioning to fit in the stock carpet with that deep of an amp rack/box. How are you going to cool down the amps?

Wow, 1" is an awfully big hole for wiring. I would try to find some rubber grommets at a local auto parts store that you can just pop the wire through the middle of the grommet rather than the plastic rings that will just leave the hole wide open. (The rubber type that are a full disk, not just a ring)

My plan is to use Plexi to cover the the rack with fans mounted to the plexi. Here's a diagram I made.

Don't feel bad, I haven't had tunes other than an old shaft radio and the factory 4x6's for almost 6 months now...you get used to it.
If you are doing a fan setup, first off be sure to use brushless motor fans to keep the noise down. Second I would put one in each corner...if you are planning on having the seat up most of the time, put one in each top corner...one sucking in, one venting out...
Just be sure that the fans aren't smothered when you put the seat up...won't do you much good to try and pull fresh air from your carpeting that the seat sits against.
Lookin good so far though otherwise
