Custom audio setup help...
Ok I know a lil about installing audio equiptment but know nothing about it really. I need a head unit and 2 12's with a amp that can haldel the power. I am also looking into a higher powered altenator or one of those compasator things. Now the 2 12's are going where my backs seats were. I'm taking them out because I have no use for them. And i was planning on installing all my hardware in the back seat area. What headunit, subs, and amp should I buy. I don't want to spend more then $800-$900 for the whole system. I have all the front and rear speakers allready and I'm not powering them. Or should I. Someone help. Even if someone lived in the North Jersey area. Will be willing to travel up to an hour for someone to help.
friend of mine just installed a kenwood 817 head unit into his jeep, and some infinity components in his kicks, not amplified.. it sounds incredible, you can actually feel bass coming from the 6.5s... dunno what exactly you're looking for in a system, but my friends setup sounds better than some amp/sub setups ive heard, and hes running off deck power...
man I would so help ya if I was around there. but for $800 I'd spend about $300 on a head unit and then $500 into amp and subs. I would get 2 12" infinity references(I used to have one very nice for the money) from crutchfield for $150 and then get a JBL 600.1 or 1200.1 from ikesound.com for about $250-$350. that would get you a good/value system in my opinion.

You can get just about any cap. that you want. They all are really the same. Make sure you get one that is rated at 20V or higher. The 16V caps. suck. For subs I recommend the Alpines. They are very nice subs and you can get them for $130 a piece at ikesound.com. For amps I like the JBL's too. I am planning on getting the 300.1 and the 80.4 for my new setup. For the headunit get an Alpine, Pioneer, JVC (Digifine series), any good brand. Stay away from Sony, Jensen, Legecy, Roadgear, and the rest of that crap. Hope this helps. Good luck.
