Correct Way To Wire Interior Neons, And Fuse Question

Ok, I posted this in the electrice section but no one seemed to care so I will try it here. I have a neon in the trunk and 2 little tube neons under the dash. I currently have them all hooked up to one switch, and the power for the switch is hooked up in to the inline fuse for the amp power wire. What is the correct way to hook up these neons, directly to the battery? Also I have a 200 watt pioneer amp running a 15" sub, the fuse on the amp is a 20, and the inline fuse on the power wire is also a 20, what should the inline fuse be? Is 20 too small? thanks alot for any help.

What is the current draw of all the neons combined? Chances are, it'll be minimal. If it's not, then you'll have to add that current draw to the 20 that your amp pulls and put in a new fuse at or above that level.

Still, you could adjust the inline fuse (I assume you mean the one within a foot of the battery) to about 25 or 30 amps for your amplifier alone anyway. It's okay (and most often preferrable) to have some "headroom" on that one. But make sure the fuse directly before your amp remains at 20 amps.

As for how to power your neons, I don't really know 'cause I've never done any. You could split them before your amp fuse, I guess. But you might want to put a fuse on that wire as well.

One thing that you could do if you wanted to lose the switch is put in a relay that works with your amp's remote turn on. That way when your system's on the neons will come on automatically.

Don't you get noise from the neons going into the amplifier? Seems you'd get a buzz or hum out of the amp by tapping into it's power wire.

If I were you, I'd run a relay. Use the relay as the "middle man" between your switch and the neons.

"magnet side" of relay: Ignition terminal of fuse box, manual switch, relay pin 85. Relay pin 86, ground.

"switch side" of relay: Wire to battery, fuse (close to battery), relay pin 30. Relay pin 87a, neon tubes. Neon tubes, ground.

Like TrueBlue91RS said, I think the current draw for neons is minimal. 16 gauge wire should be fine from the battery to the trunk.

I have a purple neon under my bumper from '94 (back when I was cool, haha), that I wired with a relay, in line with a "cop!" switch. I wired the relay so that when I put my lights on, the neon came on. The "cop!" switch is wired between the light switch and the relay, so if the switch is off, the relay never activates. Actually, the "cop" switch has turned into a "when I feel silly, I turn the neons on" switch. It's been off for a lonnnng time.

splice into the power wire going into your CD player... then run a toggle switch off that... i did it!

only bad thing is that you have to have the car on the acc. to have the neons and stobe lights going.... worked for me!

that and for another neon i spliced into the dome light and ran a switch off that.

no no no no,
heres what i did,i have two 12 neon tubes,4 license plate screw lights, and strobed in my tailights, now,i have all these wired into one switch, prolly isnt to safe, but it has worked so far, anyways, the are wired into my switch that is mounted right behind the shifter,i wouldnt put it there again, and the switch is power wire for the switch is run into the haz. fuse, just wrapped around the fuse and pushed back into place, this way,you can turn you neons on and off whenever you feel like it,if you just want your neons on at night, you can leave them on,and still take you keys ,just what i did,

the emergency hazard lights, your 4 ways, they always have power to them,so as long as u wire into them, and put a switch on it,you will be able to turn them on/and off at anytime.
