Deck Install question
Deck Install question
Well I took my clarion deck out of my Trans Am and I would like to install it in my Eagle Vision. Well I got the the install kit for it and put the deck in the car but it doesn't fit right. The deck sticks out about an inch or so past the mounting kit, the heating duct is in the way, is there another type of mount I can get for the car that will make the deck fit right? I dont know what to do to make iy flush with the mounting kit. So could you please help me. I know this has nothing to do with Camaros or Trans Ams but I know a lot of you guys are smart so I though I would ask.
Thanks

Most likely is that either your deck is too long for the shallow mounting location in the talon (there is no way to fix that) or that there is something blocking the deck from sliding into the mounting bay (such as the little nylon spike on the back of decks that are fitted to camaros) look at the back of the deck if there is anything on the back remove it also check to see that your wiring harness isn't preventing the deck from mounting properly
let me know if this helps:rockon:

Mounting Kits..
Your mounting kit probably provides for you deck to protrude from the dash- meaning that it's not exactly flush with the rest of the panel, just in case your deck doesn't fit...
The largest protrusion I've seen is 1", but there might be some custom applications available... check with someone that actually does the installs at your local car-audio headquarters, see if they might know of a brand of mounting kit that accomodates even bigger protrusions - although, I honestly doubt it can stick out anymore than 1" without off balancing the head unit
Just a thought..

Go see if crutchfield.com has application data listed on their website for your talon. They have it in the catalog. They list the max dimensions (depth/heigth/width) that the stock radio location of a car can take, as well as the max dimensions for speakers.
