Anyone know bout 4gauge dual amp instal kit??
Anyone know bout 4gauge dual amp instal kit??
Hey guys,
I've got a '89 Formula WS6, and Ive got two Profile California amps. Im gonna add on some subs in the future, so I wanna be sure to have thick enough wire. The only 4-gauge dual amp kit I can find is Rockford Fosgate kit at Best Buy, and Crutchfield for $139.95!!! That seems like alot of mone to spend on wire!!
If any of you guys know of any other 4-gauge daul amp(includes both 8 gauge and 4 gauge wire) kits out there, let me know
Thanks!!
Ben

look on ebay. best bet. i myself am going to buy piece by peace, cause i'm gonna put together a 1/0 ga setup. and i still wont pay that price. check out ebay for wiring and other pieces, www.delcity.net for the bigger wiring (welding cable same difference as power wire). you should not spend anything near a $100, even if you buy piece by piece
DEI makes a sweet 4 guage, dual amp kit with gold distribution blocks and fuse holders. It's really an awesome kit. You won't be disappointed. You shouldn't have to pay more than $100 and most likely it will be less. Anyplace that installs Viper, Python, Hornet, etc. should have one or be able to get one. HTH

Or, like the other guys mentioned, make your own. Buy 20 feet of 4 gauge, a 4ga-to-8-ga fuse dist block, and two 10 foot 8 gauge power wires, one for each amp. Then buy any ring terminals separately. That's similar to my setup; I bought 20 feet of Crutchfield's "Basic" 4ga power wire, a Streetwires distribution block, 20 feet of 8 gauge wire (cut in half for 10 feet to each amp, yeah, overkill, but who wants to run out of wire when they're doing their system?), some gold ring terminals, and some fuses. Then I bought a $80 Lightning Audio circuit breaker for the front of the car. I already had some black 8 ga wire for the grounds. Patch cords were $40 each, and I have three of 'em.
If interested I can set you up with all you need, just email me

not sure how you feel about the brand scoshe, but they are sold at the local wal-mart, i have been using them for awhile their 4 AWG dual amp kit inludes 4 guage power and ground, power distribution block, and 8 AWG for power from the block to the amps, 2 sets 20ft RCA'S, and 12AWG speaker cable, all in a nice little package for $24.99 the only problem, is that wal-mart sells out as soon as they get em.

its a misconception that you need to spend tons of cash on wiring. best place to check for a full kit is ebay. you will find stuff for at nearly half price. thats where i got my original 4 ga kit. patch cables are some of the most speculated and debated sets of wires. no need to spend more than $40 for a patch cable, especially for a non-competitor. i found some very nicely made sets on sale for $15. twisted pair is the first thing to look for, then shielded is nice too (but has been shown to even possibly induce noise, not reject it). for my upgrade, i'm going to www.delcity.net and buying some 1/0 welding cable. its high strand and the surround is pretty resistant. why spend $3+ when i can get the same stuff, minus the name and pretty cover, for $1? then searching ebay for my distribution blocks and fuse blocks. and i guarentee i'll still be under the $100 mark
