When my qjet is cold, at WOT the car doesnt do anything....

Like the topic says, when my car has been running for the first 15 minutes in the morning, it lacks responsiveness. I can floor the sob as fast as i want, and it will take about two seconds till it begins to move. Sometimes if you do it fast enough it will bog down and die. Could this be a bad accelerator pump? Throttle position sensor? It doesnt do it nearly as bad when its warm, it just runs very badly in the morning on the first startup till i get wherever it is that im going.

sounds like it may be a problem with the choke setting, if it aint just right it will act like sh*t.

P.S. there is a secondary lockout when the choke is on, it will not allow the secondarys to open till the engine is good and warm. may explain some of your performance issues.

Describe these "few bolt-ons" you have done. Is one of those an open element air cleaner? If so, BINGO! The calibration of the carb likes warmer air, so off-idle response will seem lean.

15 minutes is a bit long, though, for this to last. Where's you timing at? A few degrees advanced from factory typically helps throttle response. Overall, is your ignition up to snuff? That's where 90% of carb problems reside.

You may still have an accelerator pump problem, though. However, your description sounds more like secondary bog, which is a function of the choke pull-off and secondary air valve spring tension. It'll be worse when cold if the rods & hanger tend towards the lean side (which they typically do from the factory).

I have an open element filter and mine does the same thing. Only lasts around 15 minutes, but the way i look at it, it keeps me from getting on it to much when its cold. Seems to be a normal problem when the cars are cold.

cold???

I know that on my car when i first got it, it still had the heat stove connected (hope you know what that is) and it wasnt that bad when it was cold. but now i have taken all that stuff off and now it is pretty bad when it is cold. I have the car set up for cold air intake all the time and it makes it even worse.
but i know for sure that the secondaries will not open when the choke is even remotely on, i still have problems with it in summer because it is a little loose, so you might want to check that.

The other thing is i dont think you should be giving her untill it is fully warmed up. I drive like a granny till my car are warm, i have seen what happens when you dont. this would be no rings and clouds of smoke, just wait till she warms up and then give her ****. I always do this and i beat the sheeeeiat out of my car, can you say 6000rpm on the stock bottom end, every day 5 months straight. hope this helps

five7kid, yes i have an open air element. i knocked my timing down from 11 degrees advanced (it got there on accident) to the stock setting of 0 degrees. i have an msd 6a, to go along with the msd cap, coil and rotor. new rapidfire plugs and bosch wires with about 1500 miles on them. you know, my car has lacked alot of low end grunt since ive rebuilt the top half of the carb. that was around the same time as i did the open air element. it could be the accelerator pump, but i never thought it could be the open air. heres a very large pic of my car, and you can see the hood ive got, which i think gives sort of a ram air effect, but maybe i should look into getting a dual snorkle and rigging that up. when i go for a brake stand, it will hesitate for a second, then white smoke will billow everywhere. it could be timing, open air or the accelerator pump, but what does it sound like exactly?

edit, actually just click on the link to my homepage to see various pics of my car

Try bumping the timing ahead to 6*. I've heard that is all you can really get away with on a ccQJet, but it will sure help "the bottom end grunt," as you say.
