NEW TO THIS BOARD, need help with my carb.
Hello all, first off let me tell you a little about myself, I am all about Domestics, and LOVE CHEVY, never buy anything else, My fav Chevy's are the G-Body, and F-Bodys, (Also the A bodys) But by far I must say the third gen camaros are one of the sharpest looking cars around, along with my monte
My monte is fairly stock, with a little bit of problems that I will eventually fix (With some of your help
) its a 1988 SS White Ext/Saddle (Tan) Interior, 59K MIles on everything origional, best run bone stock was 15.56@87.38, now I got flowmasters and 2.5inch exhaust with hi flow cat, but anyhow, about the carb, it is a quadrajet rochester, electronic controlled, and thinking that the metering rod hold down screw was a mixture screw, I broke the head off of it (I didn['t know much about carbs at the time) and I need to get those threads clear for a replacement screw, also I am getting a hesitation very badly, and I very well know it is the mixture (I replaced the O2 sensor (got code 44 lean exhaust earlier) the cap/rotor, plugs all replaced, but I notice a little improvement when i mess with the mixture) I need to know how to get that screw out, and where to find a replacement, and how to properly set the mixture even know it is electronically controlled (Newer replacement carb tho) Thanks for reading.

There's not a screw that "retains" the primary metering rods. Exactly where in the carb is the broken screw?

It is not attached to the rods them selve, theres an assemble attached right about the secondary butterfly's that holds the peice down (The one that the metering rods hang off of) and pulls it down with it when the secondarys open up, its a hold down screw
The little tiny screw that's between the seondary air valves? That's the hold-down screw for the secondary metering rod hanger (that holds the secondary metering rods).
Getting it out could be tough. It's practically microscopic. No easy-out is that small. If there are still a few threads sticking out (once you remove the hanger) you might be able to get a small set of vice-grips on it.
Your best bet might be getting one out of a junkyard carb. The screw screws into a little "follower" that rides on a cam that lifts the secondary metering rod hanger (and therefore the secondary metering rods) as the secondary air valves open.
If you get to this point (and I hope you don't) and are unfamiliar with how to do this shoot me an email and I'll walk you through it step-by-step.

I would recommend doing like Damon said about getting a junkyard part to solve your problem. Sounds alot easier than trying to get that little screw out and another in. Don't think tap and dye would work either?
