just wondering about this carb, it's a universal/off road type. I'm not worried about smog laws, but I don't want to kill myself with deadly fumes.
will this carb do any good on a 305? or just waste gas & overheat the engine?
it has a 650 q-jet on it now,it runs ok,but it is an old carb, the holley is new.
my only concern is that the holley seems much bigger than the q-jet despite having the same cfm rating,I don't want to "over carb" the engine.

A 650 will work just peachy. I ran one on mine for almost a year.

Hey j.y.d.,I'm glad you asked that question. I've been trying to decide if i could rebuild my carter 600c.f.m. carb to 650 c.f.m.'s,i guess it won't be a problem. I see your stationed on the u.s.s. saipan,I was staioned aboard that ship for 2 weeks back in 1989 as part of a marine amphibious unit takeing part in a all forces excercise at camp lejeune. Hearing that name sure brings back some memories.

I saw the Saipan in the Victoria, BC., harbour back in 1987 or '88. It is a smaller size carrier, if I remember correctly. It sure looked awfully big to me, when it was docked. Kind of like a warehouse on floats!
