Q-jet idle mix/TPI adjustment tool source?
Q-jet idle mix/TPI adjustment tool source?
Does anyone know where I can get that tool that goes down in a Quadrajet carb and is used to turn the adjustment for the idle mixture control solenoid and the TPS adjustment? Is this something I can find at the local car parts store or am I looking at a dealer item?
Thanks!
P.S. Found a post from someone else who asked the same thing- the reply said that some tool company called Thexton sold it- is it that hard to find where I might have to go this route? I'd rather not wait a week or so for the tool if I can help it...

Ed Maher has recommended them, and I bought a couple of tools from them, very good source (oh, thanks Ed
) Their site is www.thexton.com and this is the tool you want: #362. You can order online via credit card and it should arrive in 4 weeks (that's how long it took for me to receive it).

You should be able to buy the mixture control tools at any major parts store. I got my first set at a pep boys, it was listed with the rebuild kits as a mixture adjusting kit.
As for the TPS tool, i got mine through thexton. Supposedly you can get it through any good mechanics tool supplier (snap-on, etc) but it was easier for me to just order online.

Thanks, guys- since Ed says I'm probably still close to 'normal' with the TPS setting I won't need it as soon as I thought, so I'll go ahead and order it so I can have it on hand for when I do need it.
Hi,
For those of us up in Canada....
I have searched high and low for the tool to adjust the mixture settings on the CC Q-Jet. Unfortunately, none of our major parts stores carry it, and many did not even know what it was.
But, I found it at 'Snap-On Tools'. It is the same part that you can order online (in the above post), but it does not take as long to recieve the tool. Here is Calgary, we have a Snap-On Tools location, and they stocked the adjustment tool.
Thought this might be of use to some others....
