WTF? Two and three carb manifolds? 8, 6 and 9 barrels? ACK!
I was just at the Edelbrock website looking at intake manifolds and I just can't hwlp but pose this question:
What is the advantage to having dual 4 barrel carbs as opposed to three 2 barrel carbs on the same manifold instead of a single carb like a normal engine? Is this just because carburetors are too small? (i.e. 850 wasn't enough... needed to go 1000-1700 CFM?)
Guess I'd need a funny car to reap the benefits...

Future plans:
New paint - take out two small rust holes
Reupholster the ceiling (bare foam now)
Highflow cat-back exhaust
Single 12" subwoofer... don't need to break windows

Hold over from the old days. Was a time where there was NO SUCH THING aS A 4 barrel carb! There were only 2 barrels. The 3 deuces setup predates the dual 4 setup.
In reality, today there is almost nothing you can't accomplish with a single 4 barrel.

You might get a little bit better fuel distribution. It evendently wasn't very efficient--it didn't survive the smog years.

Kobel ground FX, current red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

I used to have a 440 cuda with three two barrels. The extra two were vauum operated and would really nail you to the seat when you stomped on it. However, I understand you can get more peak horsepower on the same engine with an optimizes 4v.

The old GM 3-deuce setups (Pontiacs mostly) actually used 2G carbs... talk about yuck... at least the Eddie setups allow for real carbs, like 4412s or something.
Alot of the street rod people, the ones that are into all show but couldn't care less about go, use 3-2 setups. There's more of those than most people think, and Vic's company knows that. They really like that giant pile of machinery sticking up out of the non-hood of their '32 T-bucket especially since most of it can carry chrome (they really like chrome). To somebody that doesn't know what they're looking at, it looks bad-a**. To a go-fast kind of guy like me, it looks like somebody polishing their stiffy in public. But that's just personal opinion, they probably think the same about me.
