idle is high.. how do i adjust it?
i have a 86 305 5 speed with a 4 barrel holley 600cfm, edelbrock performer intake, 180* stat, flex-a-light twin fans... heres the problem
when 1st starts... its idles high as all cars do.. then drops to normal idle of 700 rpms.. when i start driving around and come to a light and i shift to neutral.. it idles up to 2200 rmps and wont come down from that... the holley is an electric choke, vacum secondary... it also appears the car is eating alot of gas...
what can i do to help this???

to the last post..
yeah too bad money is an issue and i highly doubt that the whole carb is the problem... i just had it re-built professionally.. so.. yeah.... my guess is that the positive wire has some how lost power... im going to try and run a wire from the battery with an inline 30amp fuse to the positive on the choke.. and hope that solves the problem...
PS.... edelbrock is what i replaced... those things arent worth the metal they are made of..

30a. is way too much fuse for that application bro, i suggest that 10a. is far enough, and on my 350 i just tapped an extension from the power wire that goes to the distributor straight to the electric choke, just keeping in mind to have it propperly isolated from heat and possible chafing, thats it.
good luck.
good luck.
