How do I jet my Q-Jet to work with a XE262 cam?
I have an 83 T/A with the LG4....all stock. I had the XE262 in it a couple of weeks ago and pulled like a bat outta hell. It just didnt idle right no matter where you put the mixture screws. It would idle VERY rough for about 20-30 seconds and then die out. I had to "two-foot" it at stoplights just to keep it going. Do any of you guys have any experience with that cam and a CC Q-jet? Any suggestions on jet sizes or metering rods? The cam woke it up so much, I kinda want to put it back in there. Also, with my new 3.73 gears, I think it would be the start of a new combo for my car. Thanks dudes

Although thats a major upgrade for an lg4 the carb "should" work fine with out any major tunning I.E rods or jets.
What exactly do you have going on? You say your tunning the A/F mix screws but they dont really do anything when the CC system is operating thats the MCCs job.
Most likely the float is stuck or there is trash stuck some where in the carb from when you pulled it off for the cam change. I ran for a while with a 270H in my CC LG4 with no problems or rod/jet change so something must be amiss in the carb.

You dan't need to fool around with the jets or rods.
The main thing you need to adjust would be the idle air bleed. It should be no problem at all to get it to idle right with the stock carb and that mild of a cam. The mixture screws do almost nothing at all; so put them back in the factory spot, about 7 turns out (their threads are finer than frog hair), and dial it in with the IAB. You'll probably need to turn it in about 1½-2 turns from where it is.
Put a complete exhaust system on that car next, all the way from the heads to the street. Get some of the chassis- and application-specific parts, but NOT for the LG4; get the ones for L69 or 350 TOI cars, including the cat. Edelbrock TES or SLP are 2 to consider, plus a good cat-back. You won't believe it's the same car.

That sounds good. Come to think of it, when I put the carb back on after putting the stock cam back in, the float was stuck. I had to pull it back off and mess with it. Sometimes now it takes a while to start, like its dumping gas after i shut it off. I guess I can try putting the cam back in. Just one question...what is the Idle Air Bleed? Is that capped off also by the factory? Any additional info will be greatly appreciated. THX

I have that cam in a 350 and had a few problems with the idle. Even with a Holley, I am still combating a rich idle. I only pull about 13 psi... just FYI.
It sounds like you're trying to over compensate a lean idle adjustment by turning the idle speed screw (the one on the throttle bracket) in too much. I agree with Rob, that your IAB screw is in too much (the one on top in between the primarys which is covered with the cap from the factory). I think that was a problem I was having at one time.
