Aircleaner clearances

I have an 83 Trans Am with the stock Power Bulge hood. I am using the stock CC Quadrajet. Which intake/aircleaner combos would fit under stock hood:
1) Edelbrock Performer/stock LG4 single snorkel
2)Performer RPM/stock LG4
3)Performer RPM/ Reccomend a good open element that you guys are using/have used

The quadrajet ought to be very well suited for an open element [14x3] with drop base... I would suggest you drop the single snorkel and put on one of the many types of open element filters... I have a performer intake and the Edelbrock pro-flo filter (check it out on the web) I have has a good 2 inches of clearence with the power bulge, but I have an Edelbrock 600 bolted on which I hear is a little shorter... K&N probably makes the best oil saturated filters...

Just FYI, I'm running a stealth intake with a holley carb and a 14x3 K&N dropbase air cleaner all under the stock 82 camaro hood.

Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, current red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...

I bought a 14" drop base and had to add a 3/4 spacer for the air cleaner to clear the front of the carb. Carb is completly
inaccesable with clear installed.

I later purchased an Eldebrock Triangular cleaner with a K & N included for $50. Works great and allows ample room for adjustments with the cleaner left on.

I HIGHLY recommend it.

How much drop does that 14x3 K&N setup have?
I tryed using that same setup on my 85 camaro and the SOB bashed my hood&cleaner in a few spots Granted It gave me a great excuse to get a small cowl but still.
Thanks!

Also I had to buy a 3/4 spacer to with the firbird. the spacer could be removed with the holley but the qjet and edelbrock bolth need it to clear linkage.
