Air/fule Mixture All Screwed Up

(sorry about the caps lock i'm new at this computer language stuff)I HAVE AN 84 FIREBIRD SE LG4 SET UP. I DID A COUPLE OF MODS TO IT JUST TO WAKE AND SHAKE IT. ANYWAY,IM FAIRLY NEW WITH CARB MODS AND ADJUSTMENTS. SO AFTER I DID MY HEADERS, 3' CONNECTED TO A FLOWMASTER I FIGURED TIME TO ADJUST AIR/FULE MIXTURE. I GOT IT TO RUN BETTER, BUT I GOT GREEDY AND TWEKED IT SOME MORE. NOW IT ALL SCREWED UP.
AND I CANT GET IT TO PERFORM EVEN NORMAL. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE SHARe ANY SECRET TIPS OR HAVE A BETTER IDEA ON HOW I CAN ADJUST MY AIR/FULE MIXTURE SO IT STOPS BOGGIN
AND LACKING POWER?

You need a dwell meter to set the a/f and the idle mixture screw tool. A haynes or chiltons manual will give you the procedures.

thanks for responding. I already have an idle/mixture screw tool, thats kinda what got me in this mess in the first place, and i have a Haynes manual. when i bought it a while ago it was unwraped and i did'nt realize someone riped out pages 32-78 if i remember corectly, and at that time i had my 88 formula which was fule injection so i did'nt need the carb tune up specs. Now i have an
84' S/E T/A LG4 and i guess i need those specs. Where can i buy a dwell meter, how much, i've never used one. Do you think my good common sence will guide me? Another question, is their some vacume line or wire i need to disconnect when adjusting the carb? Like when setting the timing.

thanks.

Dwell meters are harder to find but I got my last one at napa. I leave everything connected, warm the car up, block the wheels put it in drive, and hook the ground to the stut bolts and the green clip to the unused green lead near the A/C blower. you want it to read 30 on the 6cyl scale.
