OK guys, whats the LOWEST profile edelbrock manifold

I need to know the lowest profile (edelbrock prefered)so I can close my hood and not crush my airfilter. It hits because i have to use the conversion plate from spread to square bore. I need to buy a square bore intake that will keep my carb as low as possible.

I believe the Performer (not RPM) Intake is their lowest profile... you definitely want to lose the adapter. I've got a performer it gives me 2" clearance at the closest point with the Pro-flo filter... the power bulge hood shows the clearance.

Oh yeah... just to give you comparison, the Pro-flo filter stands 3" high... so a 14x3 filter should still clear.

14x3drop base with 1/2 inch spacer on a stock "GM" manifold and the standard adaptor plate fits fine and is about 1/4 of an inch taller than edelbrock performer or wieand action+ manifolds. Although I dont reccomend using a stock replacement type manifold like performer or action+ because they really arent much better than stock ones. You might want to look into a steath they seem to fit everyones cars but mine and are much better than edelbrocks selection.

Plans: Possibly add N20 for next season.
82 Firebird, 305/350 currently moth balled.
Current plans: Rebuild 305 with flat tops instead of the dished "cups" for pistons or slightly built 327 with the 58cc heads from the LG4, Upgrade the 2:73 to 3:73 or 3:42 and replace the turbo 350 with 700r4.

I would say the performer is much better... HAVE YOU LOOKED at the stock manifold versus the edelbrock? There is a big difference in flow... I bet the edelbrock is good for a 305 up to 300 Hp... Isn't stealth kinda pricey compared? If you're looking to build a 350 or something bigger then yeah, you should probably buy a stealth... but sticking with a 305, the performer will suit you just fine.

You can get 350hp with a 350cid with a Performer. Plenty big enough for a 305 IMO. That guy is right, the runners are quite a bit larger than OEM.

For PURE top-end/high-rpm only, use the RPM.

Although I haven't looked at a performer RPM specifically, I would imagine you don't need an adapter plate to put an edelbrock carb on an edelbrock manifold... The plain performer is very versitile though I do highly recommend it.

I read an article on Holley,Edelbrock, and Weiand low rise manifolds, the Weiand out performed the others but I don't know if it's
low enough to clear your hood[8004 or egr model]. Before I start an riff remember I said low riser, not the rpm or stealth.
