Remote Starter for A Carb...

Winter is rolling around here again in Winnipeg and I am looking around and need some help, again.

Is there any kind of Remote Car Starter out there that will work with a Carb?

Thanks!

I don't see why not... the fuel delivery and carb functions are more or less mechanical and the spark and ignition are about the same as for FI.

1984 z28 w/ a 357 cu in. monster engine which is looking like the posterchild for Edelbrock with the exception of the Holley 750vac... all the suspension stuff... 9-bolt posi disk is in...

I'm curious though, how would you close the choke? When I shut my car off warm, the choke is open. When I go to start it again when cold, I need to pump the pedal once to close the choke. How would you do that remotely?

Most of the starters I have seen have DIP switches you flip to tell the box how long to crank. You start with the lowest crank time and go up until things are good.

As for the choke? Maybe some sort of solenoid that "blips" the throttle quickly when the starter solenoid is tweaked??? Sounds likes a do-it-yourselfer...

A stronger version of the Idle Speed solenoid, facing the other way, might do the trick, as would a nice power door lock solenoid (or something similar)mounted in parallel with throttle return spring (but pushing the other way, obviously!)
