q-jet identification

How can you tell if a q-jet is from an L69 or LG4? is there identification numbers on them? if so what are they and where are they at?

Thanks!

It really doesn't matter, you won't know the difference between the two. If you look on the carb I believe on the opposite side (not sure) to the choke there is a number printed vertically on a tab that starts either 70xxxxx (pre '75) or 170xxxxx (post '75) the first and second x's denote the year it was made... 4x = 1970-1975, 5x = 1976-1979, 8x = 1980-87.

The general decoding scheme can be found here: http://www.oldengine.org/unfaq/leadfoot/qjet1.htm

You may be able to find what engine it was on by typing the carb ID number into a web search engine such as Altavista.
