ok i was out crusin tonight and was doing some speed shifts, and after one i saw that my choke light came on, and didn't turn off, so i headed home thinking i broke something, and by the time i got home it was still on, and the car felt like it was driving fine
any ideas on what could of happend would be great

The choke light is also the alternator light--check the alternator.

I second that, there is almost zero possiblility of damaging the carb by speed shifting and high revving activities... if the alternator is dead (or it threw the belt) you want to get it fixed FAST!
