dr rod problem (no gas)

ok, so i rebuilt my carb, and decided to upgrade the rods and hanger - went to a b rod with ck rods, while the drs were being ordered - worked fine - i just got my dr's in today, installed them, and when getting on the interstate, pulls through first gear just fine, but halfway through sencondgear, the rpms actually start to fall, and i loose speed (petal to the floor) the only thing i can think of is that i'm running out of gas in the carb, and the pump can't keep up - any one have any ideas on whats up?

I'd say you're running out of gas in the carb, and the pump can't keep up.

You either have a clogged fuel filter or a weak pump.

Or both.

Very, very much less likely is a clogged pickup sock. But, still possible.

does anyone have a good reference for an aftermarket or replacement pump? i'm pretty sure it's the problem, as it has seemed to be dying by the past few anyways

Unless you're really putting out some energy, a stock replacement should do fine. I picked up one from Checker two years ago, it's proven itself capable of keeping up with my recent mods.
