ac solenoid
ac solenoid
hey guys, I pulled the whole a/c assembly off my lg4 a while ago and yesterday I decided to pull the a/c solenoid off the driver's side of the carb (the solenoid recieves 12V when the a/c and defroster are on, and it pushes a rod out that bumps up the idle speed a bit higher than idle.) I took it out because with 12V applied to the solenoid, the arm wasn't even pushing out enough to touch the throttle linkage and since there's no a/c, the piece is rather pointless and makes it harder to adjust the idle screw.
My question is this, now everytime I shut the car off I can hear a relay under the drivers side dash making noise. If I hook the solenoid back up the noise goes away, so it's definitely this causing the problem. I pulled the fuse for it under the dash, but this fuse also works the electric choke on the carb so I had to hook that back up. How can I stop the relay from making that noise, without either losing the electric choke or without having to hook the solenoid back up?
I was thinking maybe just putting a light bulb in place of the solenoid will complete the circuit of the solenoid circuit, and will stop the noise from happening but I'd rather fix this than patch it up like that, any ideas? Thanks guys and sorry for the long post.
