Car: 84 s/e, 94 must conv, 66 must
Engine: 2.8 v6
Transmission: 5 speed manual
Axle/Gears: 3.42 posi just chngd from 3.73
starter problems
does my 1984 v6 SE have a starter relay switch ??? sometimes when I try to start I get a sound like a Ford solenoid with a low battery.... I replaced the starter and cables but still get the noise sometimes w/o starting ... never seen one so....

Never heard that these cars have a starter relay. If it had a Ford type, you would have seen it when you replaced the cables.
Check the voltage on the purple wire at the starter when in start mode. You may have a voltage drop problem, which can happen across connectors and switches (ignition, clutch safety).
