Is my carb the problem??

I'm only running 14.8s with my setup. A lot of people say it's the carb. Am I doing something wrong? I adjusted the air/fuel with a vacuum gauge and stopped when I got max vacuum. I blocked of the advance vac for the distributor also. Im running the MSD probillet mechanical advance. Here's my specs:

"...adjusted the air/fuel with a vacuum gauge and stopped when I got max vacuum..." - are you talking about the little screws on each side of the primary metering block? If so, that's the idle mixture.

A lot of unknowns here. What's your total timing advance set at? When does it all come in? What tranny are you running? What gears? Do you have traction problems? What's your trap speed? Have you tried any carb jet changes? Any stumbles off the line?

Oh, blocking the vacuum advance makes next to no difference, and in certain cases, can hurt you.

Are you correcting the ET for the altitude that your track is at?

More Info

More specs:
I am adjusting the two small screws on either side of the carb. Not the Idle and choke screws. If I adjust one screw then I do the same to the other. I have a 700R4 transmission and stock borg warner 9 bolt with 3.27s. Of the line I am spinning the wheels a bit.
No I have not tried a carb jet yet. I do not really know what a carb jet is and exactly how it works. The carb is out of the box operating. I just went from TPI to Carb and am new to carbs.
My trap speed is only 94 MPH and I do not have much top end either.
Before going to the track, I put my initial timing at about 15 degrees advance so that it was at 36 degrees at about 2500 RPM. Since then I used the springs with the MSD package and the bushing (red bushing 28deg advance, two light silver springs makes total timing come in at 2500RPM, and initial timing set at 8 degrees advance. Total timing=36 degrees). I have not tested it since then with the new timing adjustments. Plugs gapped at .050

Getting nitrous 150 HP boost next week.

you need to put some effort into learning to tune that carb and ignition. There are 1001 resources on that. Holleys website, books, etc, etc, etc.

Read one.
