need help tuning edelbrock 750 carb
Alright, long story short, my quadrajet carb went out, so i replaced it with a 750 edelbrock carb i had at my house(with a lot of spacing over manifold and barely clearing hood.) Now...my car is running to rich, and i dont remember how to tune the carb. there are 2 tuning screws in the front and i dont remember which way to turn them. anybody please help.
ok thanks..that must be why my air/fuel meter says im running really rich all the time...it never drops outta rich. Are these carbs good for the 305 LG4? do they make a difference over the stock quadrajet?

Turning those screws allows more or less air in the idle bleed passage.
That's the trick if you running a LITTLE lean or rich at idle.
However if your driving rich you'll need to change the rods, or if it's running really rich you might need to change the jets also.
The rods can be access from the top just under the little hex screw holding on a flat peanut looking plate on each side of the air horn.
The jets require you to remove the air horn, and are located on the bottom of the float bowls.
Those Edelbrock 750 out of the box, put on SBC run rich as hell.
I know I have one myself.
I expected to run very-very-very rich up here @ 6300 feet, but I see post all the time with folks at sea-level or 1000 feet or so, are also running very rich out of the box.

I'll correct my post. The idle screws in the front don't change the air/fuel ratio at all, it accualy chages the volumn of the air & fuel @ idle. (not all carbs are like that, but the AFB is.)
(I had to re-read that chapter)
You'll still need to adjust the rods & or Jets if your driving around and smelling fuel.

Just thought id let everyone know whats goin on. The main problem was that i didnt have a vacuum line hooked up, and it disconnected my air injection stuff.. i guess. now that thats hooked up, i got the mixture down and it works really well no more smoke! Thanks everyone.
