Holley Rich on one side lean on other?!
Hey guys. This is weird it happened to me yesterday. I have been putting off changing the air filter on my car. I saw it was dirty and took it off while i go to the autoparts store. (THis may or may not have anything to do with this).
I was going to the store and out of nowhere the engine started idling high at 1700rpms to 2000rpms. It sounded like i had taken two spark plug wires off. I have true duals exhaust and when i stopped at a gas station one side of the engine(pipe) had pitch black smoke comming out. And the other white smoke. NOTHING i did to lower idle while i got home worked. I just wanted to know your thoughts on it. It sounds horrible 2000rpms with what sound like two discounnected spark plugs. I tought of a dirty needle seat assmbly.
Im thinking carb. its a holley 1460 750cfm with vac secondaries.
What do you guys think, and again thank you for your time and help!

sounds liek a vacuum leak. The only 3 ways that the idle will suddenly raise liek that are a vacuum leak, choke hanging up, or the distributer fuzing up and advancing on it's own.
Check the timing. If you still have a choke, you live in Florida, ditch it. If thats not it, hunt for vacum leaks.
fix the idle speed and see if the other problems follow with it.

I just woke up. :0 I thought about a vacuum leak but that is the biggest developing vacuum leak i have ever seen. This thing sound rougher than a vacuum leak problem. I will check the car today and see what i find. Oh yeah the car smothes out for a little while when i give it a tiny bit of gas. Um wait. Ill be back. IDEA!
Thanks again Jester!

Its fixed I took the carb out and gave it an overhaul/cleaning. and i cleaned the pcv valve. It seems the problem was the carb as I previously thought.
Hey Jester thanks for taking the time to help. I apreciate it much!
