That is kind of an ambiguos question. Refine it so we know what you mean.
The Performer intake and carb is a very good combo for building low end torque on any small block. A lot of people really like the easy tuneability of the Performer carbs, as they are quick to change rods and what not on.
A QJet is also an excellent carb, as long as you know how to tune them. Damon and five7kid are our pros on that.
Some people have found that the later Edelbrock intakes have not been cast as carefully as they used to be, and things don't quite line up like they should. It is a really good idea to match the gaskets to the intake and grind the openings until they fit each other just right.

dear sitting bull.
about the edel. 1406 i did jet down 3 stages and now i can get just short of 400kms. from a tank (got no idea 'bout miles) the performance has slightly diminished but still is way better than my old Q-bog.
did you kept yours?, please respond.
Fernando.

No, I couldn't keep the Edelbrock, it was costing a fortune in gas

We also jetted it down but the best I could get from combined city/highway was around 15 mpg.
With the rebuilt QJet I'm getting almost 16 mpg around town. the power has also gone down, though I'm working on that. I'm going to try a step richer on the primary rods. The secondaries are still just fine. The rebuild has has worked those sorts of kinks out of the carb.
Another problem with the Edelbrock was that I had to use a spacer on top of it for my dual snorkle aircleaner to clear the choke. It was a balancing act and I really didn't like that at all. It was right up against the hood. Moreover, I would have had to purchase an Edelbrock A/C fast idle throttle servo and a few more odds and ends for the cruise control. All of those gizmos were already on my old QJet.
If I can get the primary side sorted out without losing mpg, I'll be a very satisfied camper.
It runs excellently now anyway, I'd like just a bit more oomf off the line.

My recommendation would be to return the Edelbrock and fix the q-jet. There isn't anything in particular that makes the Performer carb a "match" for the Performer intake. If you switch to the Performer carb, you'll also need to change the distributor to a non-CC, vacuum/mechanical advance distributor, juggle cables, have to hook up some kind of TCC lockup switch (if automatic tranny), etc.
Overall, the q-jet is a superior carb for driveability, power, and economy. Spend your money fixing/improving it.
