Holley Identification
Holley Identification
I am sorry if this has been brought up before but I typed in Holley identification and nothing cam up besides a holley vacume identification. My boss has an older Holley double pumper and I was wondering how to tell what model and size it was is there any way by using the numbers externally to see if it may be something that I can use on my 455? The 4-digit model number should be stamped on the front of the choke tower, with "List" beside it.
Find that and check it against the Holley web site (or post here).

Sorry it has been so long I got busy and haven't even been able to work on my car (50+hour weeks suck but are sure nice on the wallet) I took a look earlier today and this is what I found for #'s. First off I want to point out it is a double pumper, mechanical secondaries, and a mechanical choke that was hooked up to run off the heat of the intake like an oder car (and possibly may have came off a mopar car with a 340 because it is off a hot rod he bought that came with a 340 that had been rebuilt but was pretty much stock) it is also spreadbore flanged. There is 6R 4422 B on the body of the carb on the choke side (secondary part of the body) and 12R 5395 B on the flange of the carb choke side. I looked on holley but none of these #'s make any sense I have the carb so let me know if I need any different #'s and if so where I may be able to find them. Thanks James

The #s you gave are part #s for those particular parts, not much help really.
Look for a number that says "LIST-XXXX-X" on the front of the choke tower, on top of the air horn, driver's side. That's the one that will tell what it is.
AFAIK Mopar never put a spreadbore Holley on any of their cars, and no 340 I'm aware of came with a spreadbore carb. However, other Mopar motors did come with spreadbores, usually Carter ThermoQuad models; most likely your carb had been on one of those, or at leas ton an intake from one. Whether it's a Mopar-specific carb or not is anybody's guess until you come up with the list #. The things that would make it a Mopar carb are mostly the linkage and the choke arrangements and maybe the fuel inlet, the guts of the carb are the same no matter the application. Or of course the way Holley does their replacement carbs, the universal linkage is for an older GM, and you buy extra little pieces to add F*rd kickdown or Chrysler kickdown or GM 700 TV cable or whatever; so it might be one of those that was just stuck on the Mopar with (or without, as some people do) the install kit.

okay I got a # that is L 3310 2 that is stamped into what I think you are refering to as the air horn (part that is in front of the float bowl before it connects to the body but it is on the rear one not the front. It says on holley that it is a 4160 750 CFM if this is this correct #. Is this the # I want I mean I can't find where it says List but I figure an L would stand for it maybe. Thanks in advance. I am sorry to be a pain but I have never bought a used carb and tried to find what it was. Thanks James

That's the number...
It's a 3310. That's a 780 CFM (750 by the other ratings system) vacuum secondary, single pump, square flange carb. It's not a spreadbore, man sec, or a dbl pumper. It came stock on all the 60s Chevy muscle cars from about 65 to about 70, everything from the 302 Z28s to the big block Chevelles, etc. Very, very common, familiar carb. Yours is a -2, which is the third revision of it (-nothing originally, then a -1, then a -2). They're up to like a -6 version of that carb now. IIRC the -2 version might be the first version of it to have a metering plate instead of a block
but I could be wrong.
It would work fine on a 455, if the intake has the square flange. There's better carbs than that one out there now, but it's still a decent one, one of the old favorites of hot-rodders. You can buy a plate to block conversion kit for it, and a with a dual line kit too.

Thanks for all the help I started looking at the chart and figured that it wasn't really the one I kept looking and found where it said list and it turns out it is a 650 CFM Double pumper mechanical spreadbore for a factory replacement on 340 chrysler to 400 pontiac. Thanks James
