hi, I've just got a vacuum gauge. Yesturday i used it to set my idle. I set it with the car in park....will this make a difference.. if i set the idle in drive??? it runs about 500 rpm in drive...ok but....i adjusted the idle mixture screws so that i had a max of 23psi.....this was the highest vacuum i could get ... does this sound normal.................i'm getting about 7-1/2 to 8 miles a gallon............. and i'm just trying to save some fuel here.........

It's not psi, it's inches. psi is a measure of pressure.
23" is very high, altho about normal for a stock motor with a small cam.
theoratically you should set it in drive...but park is usually close enough. If you do set it in park be VERY careful not to get yourself run over.
