Engine almost dies when braking hard

Why is it that whenever i brake hard the engine almost dies? I know it must have something to do with the 750 holley double pumper. It also does this when i corner hard. I have a pretty new edelbrock mechanical fuel pump. Thanks.

Where do you have the float level set?

I have no idea. The carb was installed by someone else and i dont know much about carbs but I've recently bought a book by Vizard on carbs and intake manifolds so hopefully i'll be able to answer your question soon. I've taken engines apart before and put them together and lot other stuff, but carbs are my main weakness right now. I was using TBI before and never experienced these problems.
You think the single plane intake manifold might also have something to do with it?

I think what Jester's getting at is if the float level is too high then fuel can slosh out of the bowl into the manifold during hard maneuvering causing a very sudden very rich condition.

check your manafold vacuum line that runs to your power booster. sometimes that can do it too. Check for vacuum leaks at the base of your Holley. if you used low quality studs , when you torqued them they might have stripped. Hope that helps.

If the power brake booster vacuum line was leaking, he'd probably have noticed hard brakes.

apeiron is right about where I'm going with this. Check your float level. It should be such that, on level ground, fuel just dribbles out of the sight hole when you rock the car.
