fuel blow back?
this is not my car its my jeep but no one ever knows anything on the jeep board so,
i went wheelin' sunday then parked it and it ran fine. went to fire it up today and it runs like poop. it acts like theres a vac leak but there is no leak. its not ign. either. so what could be wrong if the fuel blows back up out the carb when you first hit the gas until the vac. picks backup and then its fine.
its a chev. 2.8 L with a two bbl carb and no comp.

I would guess accelerator pump. An initial lean condition would cause a backfire in the intake, which would blow what gas is available back out the carb.
Or, could be an ignition problem. Retarded timing or a coil on its way out could do this to you.

ive rebuilt the carb this week so its not the pump. i replaced the cap and rotor, then i checked the coil, and pickup so i had the module tested. it tested bad so i thought great, i put the new one in and it doesn't spark at all now. put the old one back still wont spark at all now and it did a little bit before. so thats where im at know. im taking a frustration break tonight because i started using more swear words than not.

It's not unusual for the module to take the coil out, and vice versa. A good idea to replace both if one is suspected to be bad.
Hope the coil didn't take out the new module.
Also seen the reluctor (the magnetic trigger wheel) go weak and cause a no-spark.
