carb replacement problems

carb replacement problems

i installed a 1406 edelbrock on an 83 berlinetta 305. since then we've been having problems with it runing to rich at idle and it has a major lack of power at WOT. should we replace the jets in teh carb or something else? when i shut it off it diesels and i have to put it in gear to shut it down. what should we do? thanks

AC delco NON COMPUTERIZED! gah i hate computers!
yeah we had to replace that too, the old one wasnt' working very well with the new carb

Ks, What did you set your initial timing at? Sounds like you might just have some tuning issues. Did you adjust the carb any? Besides idle set screw does your Edelbrock carb have air adjustment set screws on it?

ah geez my timing has been set over and over again by 2 different people. i forgot what its at now but ill check once i can later tonight. and the carb does have other adjustment screws to it.
