If you have the 305 TBI, you should consider the following options: One is a new throttle body, Holley makes one (The performance of which is slightly better than the original, but with a 600 to 700 dollar tag) and performance intake TBI, produced by Edelbrock, Holley and several others. The economy of these systems tends to be much better, but at the sacrafice of power. A carb setup would run you around 500-600 for the intake, carb, and distributor, possably more depending on the carb. I would suggest a Edelbrock intake, like the Performer RPM or the Air-Gap RPM. For a carb, Holley produces a great street-level 600 or 650 cfm carb, which shold give you decent numbers. If you want to go all Edelbrok (My preference, but less power) you could go with a Edelbrock performer 600 CFM. The best plan depends on what you want to do with the car. If you want an all-out dragster, you might want to spend the bucks for a high-quality carb set up. Daily driver wise, it would be more intelligent to go with a fuel injected type set up.
