high idle...... help!
high idle...... help!
my car idles high. even when the motor is at running temp. i can drive around for an hour and then park and the damn thing still idles at just under 1500 . i'd like it to idle alot lower. i have a rochester q-jet. can anyone tell me what i need to do to get a reasonable idle?

Did you adjust the screw idle screw? Also, i just replaced my qjet, and i had idle problems, it ended up being a celanoid with the air conditioner or something like that. Use the adjust screw on the driver side near the linkage.

Are we talking about CC Q-jet? or an earlier Q-jet?
If it's an older one then I suspect "nozzle drip" which can be caused by a vacuum leak or too much advance on the distributor.
If it's an ECM controlled carb then I'd replace the TPS sensor or at least check to see what codes have been set.
