can i go any leaner with metering rods?

hey gusy i have a edelbrock 750 and its got the factory jets in it and I changed the metering rods to 1457 (073 x 052) to try to lean it out a little. now this did help but i need to go a little leaner. now can i go leaner by changing the rods again or do i have to change the jets to go leaner? also would a high number on the metering rod mean a leaner rod? like the (073 x 052) if that increased would it be leaner? thanks guys

Yes, the bigger rods are leaner.

ok guys correct me if i;m wrong but doesn;t an engine make more vacum the higher your rev it? cause on the edelbrock website it says WOT high load low vacum and idle high vacum. that doesn;t make sence

Nope, idle is where you get vacuum and wot is where you lack vacuum.

Your 1500 rpm was just really a high idle because there was no load on the engine.
Mount the vacuum gauge inside the car, drive it down the road and go to WOT & see what the gauge reads then. It should be very low close to 1"hg

The bigger number on the rod is the cruise jetting
the smaller number is the power setting.

You leaned out the primary power setting a lot with that rod.
You want to lean out the primary cruise setting to improve mileage. install a 73 x47 rod or a 75x47 rod and a 110 primary jet.
Use a 4" stepup springs set (yellow).
Ignition timing should be 32 to 36 total at high rpm
with 12 to 16 initial at idle (700 rpm) with 10/12 vac (ported vac)

The primary jets are the two in the front of the carb.
The secondaries are in the rear.

rods are for primaries only.
There are no rods for the secondaries.
