You'll probably have to get a drop base low profile racing air cleaner. Check Moroso. I have the same manifold, a holley carb, and a Summit air cleaner (recessed base). I have a cowl hood, but when I bring the hood down, it looks like it would barely NOT fit under a stock hood. Plus you have a 1" spacer. Hope this helps.

Just swapped in a tree fiddy for my 305, and I have zero clearance with a Edel air gap dual plane, 750 Demon <no spacer> and a three inch element K&N drop base.

The one inch spacer is gonna put ya over the top..

Yea, a 2" cowl or SS hood should work just fine. Still might want to go with a recessed base just to be safe though.

The GM drop base air cleaner from the 60's/70's is the lowest.

You'll have to loose the 1" spacer but a nitrous plate will fit.

You can buy this base from corvette and camaro restoration sources.

Lots of room with a 2.5 to 2.75" filter element.

This is the common generic aftermarket base....

last post:

and this is the GM base much lower.

Use a 3/8" plastic edelbrock ring spacer if you have a edelbrock carb.

The GM designed base is a superior air managemant design.

Mine is close with a standard RPM with a 750 and a 1 1/2 inch drop base with a 3" tall air cleaner element. Wingnut rubs the underside of the hood...

Lose that spacer and you should be close (how much taller is the airgap, if at all?)
