here was my problem

I adjusted the float according to the doug roe book.

but what happened while I was taking out the lean mixture screw in order to adjust the float, I did not remember how many turns / how far to go in with the screw, now the car starts up great , then doesn't idle, die and the engine gets flooded.

my question is, where would i go to find out how much i have to screw it in, because I can adjust it with needle nose pliers without taking the carb apart.
