Carb Installation
hi all! I just got a new carburetor the other day, nothing special its just a quadrajet carb that came from the junkyard. I got this one becuase it had the vaccum stuff on it and i got a new vaccum distributor for it as well. Well anyways, i was hooking it up the other day, and i dont know if i did it right. I got it on with no trouble, bolted it down, connected the fuel line, the line that goes to the valve covers(cant name it right now) and the one that goes to the fuel pump(i think thats what it is) Anyways, i started it up and gas started coming out of another big hole that resembles the same size of the fuel line, is this a return line that needs to be plugged up or needs to be connected to somewhere? i dont remember it bein hooked up on my old carb, but then again this is a different one. Hope i can get some help!

Is the gas coming out of a fitting on the top driver's side corner of the carb? If so, that's the fuel bowl vapor recovery line that is supposed to go to the charcoal vapor canister.
It means your float is not shutting of the fuel when the fuel bowl is full like it should be. Most likely some crud has gotten into the needle and seat and is keeping it from shutting off.
