STOCK Throttle reutn spring on V6?

I have a stock 1984 2.8L V6 firebird. I have been having idle issues with it since I have bought the car. Pontiac doesnt know a thing about what throttle return spring belongs on the stock carb. The two shops I went to put on quite tight springs. I need to know, how tight should the springs be? Or if anyone has pics of their V6 throttle return springs, so I can see how streched they should be at rest, PLEASE post them!

I dont like feeling like I am pressing down on an unopened bottle of soda....Unless that is how stiff it should be...which case maybe it's time to look into EFI.

Thanks!

It shouldn't be that tight. You can buy springs at the local hardware store that can usually be made to work. It's not a big mystery- set it how it feels good to you, but make sure it still has enough force to close the throttle when you let off. Try a few different ones and you'll zero in pretty quick. just make sure the spring has more than enough travel to go from idle to WOT without "maxing-out" at WOT or "pooping out" on tension when it gets down near idle.
