Switched carbs

Well I took off my old carb and tried my friends rebuilt 85 cutlass 442 carb, I switched the distributer to vacum (like his). it idels great, runs good, but when I jump on the throttle it bogs down, I not sure, but I think its right when the 4 barrels are supposed to open. I can have the pedel floored down and just watch the rpms go down (like half throttle). I made sure I was getting full throttle and everything. Could this be a computer problem? Well thanks.

Try swapping in your old metering rods and hanger to the rebuilt carb.

I just tried that and I still have the same problem. This rebuild carb also has bigger injectors. Thats all I know about the carb.

Anything else I can try?

Thanks

Let me make sure I'm understanding what you did. You have an LG4 and you replaced your computer-controlled q-jet and distributor for a non-cc q-jet and distributor? If so then your computer's not doing much of anything and you probably need to adjust the tension of the secondary air valve spring. Check the tech articles section or do a search on this board for the procedure on that.

If you're using a vacuum advance distributor, try swapping your original back in and see if the problem goes away.
