secondary flaps wont open

I own a 4bbl rochester carb on my 86 trans am and was wondering why the secondary flaps dont open at all. When I open the flaps I see the 4bbl kicking in, but the flaps dont open when I rev the engine. Whats wrong?

This gets asked quite often...

I take it you're talking about the air valve, on top of the secondary bores. They will only open when the engine demands enough air to suck them open. They will not open just winging the throttle in a no-load situation. If they do, they're too loose, and will cause an extreme lean condition, which will make the motor bog. That's usually why people's cars with Q-Jets bog, is from the air valve opening too easily.

Ahhhh, that's why I love my mechanical secondary Demon :-). On any note, RB took the words right out of my mouth.
