What do you think of Speed Demon Carbs?
I'm looking for a carb for my 1988 with a 383. It will probably go on an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap Manifold or equvalent Weiland if I can find one. Looking at the Speed Demon carb, what do you guys think of it? Also most nitrous kits say bolt up to holley carb, will they work on a speed demon since they both bolt to the same intake?

I love mine :hail: From what I understand, a few parts interchange between Holley and Demon carbs. You'll have no problems using the nitrous kit since the bolt pattern is the same. Quality on the Demon sure seems more refined than what my Holley was. Easy to work on, look great and perform great. Having no choke hasn't hurt start up either so far. Think I got the carb as it was just warming up a bit so it may have only seen 40 or 50 degree weather.

Have had my Speed Demon for four years now and love it.A little hard to tune at first (actually had to do with me knowing very little about tuning)..but now that I have it set..I am more than happy with it.Yes it is more money than a Holley..but IMHO it is worth it for the higher quality of the parts (all billet as opposed to mostle cast porous parts on Holleys),improved looks, and holds a tune much better for me anyway. Not trashing Holley..just speaking from my experiences with them..others get great results and they have been around since the stone age so there are tried and true..I just prefer Demon anyday.
Just put on my 750 mech. secondary. It is unbelievable compared to the old quadrajet. I have a nitrous plate system, same bolt pattern as holley. It has no choke, but without even pumping the gas it starts first try every time. Its not that bad to tune, you just have to make sure you adjust the primary and secondary butterflys the same, and the 4 mixture screws the same. I highly recommend them. With a 383 i would also definitely go with the 750 (or higher). I was debating between the 650 and 750 for my 350, and the 750 runs perfectly.
