Will -84 TA aircleaner lid fit -87 LG4 box?
I have purchased a cowl indution setup from an 84 TA to go on my -87 formula LG4. This guy didn't have the aircleaner box or lid, so I'm about to buy the box and lid from someone else on ebay.

Problem is I live in Norway. Shipping is way expensive. I would rather just use the box i Have if it will fit.
So, will it fit, or not?
Thanks...

the TA lid that you have pictured there should fit on the LG4 air box. i have a 84 TA with that lid and cowl setup and it looks the same size as all other carbed third gen air boxes. check the part number for the AC/Delco air filter for a 84 TA and a 87 LG4. if the are the same, which i am almost sure they will be, the lid should fit. i hate to say "it will fit 100%", but cause sometimes things are weird, but that TA lid should fit no problem on your camaro air box.

OKey, thanks for the tip. I checked with gmparts direct, and at least the air filter element had the same partnumber, so far so good.
But doesn't the 84 TA cowl induction airbox have some kind of contraption, or additional disk inside the box to make the filter really filter the air? I mean, if I cut a hole in the exact same spot on my -87 aircleaner lid, the hole would be on top of the filter element, partly on the outside, and partly on the inside, making air pass the element without being filtered.
I havent really seen the inside of these airboxes, but I guess there must be some kind of additional disk to seal the top of the filter off, but the question really is whether this sits as a part of the lid, or it is a part of the box, or finally, perhaps, as a third separate piece.
Any thoughts about this?
All reply's will be greatly appreciated,
Kjetil

There were 2 different styles, a 1 peice and a 2 peice aircleaner lid. The lid has a small lid under it. The 1 peice was just both lids stuck together.
The lid will fit the LG4/TBI aircleaner base.

Just buy the lid. It is a 2 piece lid with the smaller lid attached underneath to go over the air filter. The base is the same as your LG4 base.
Check the link in my sig, I have a picture where I separated the two lid pieces.

Actually I asked the guy to take a picture of it, and here they are. But he didn't get that I wantes the inside of of the lid, so he only took inside of the box. Trending Topics

Here's the other one. So, your sure about that I just need the lid?
*lol* My faul, I didn't see it at first, but this last one really is from the inside of the lid isn't it? And it has the second disc also.. Just hope that it's attached, and not loose, so he wont just send me a little part of it. Well, I guess this answers it then, doesn't it?

The only reason I separated my two lid pieces is so I could do a good job of painting them. Normally they are stuck together at the centre. (you can spin the one inside the other though) So he should send you both lids
