Specifically, I'm wondering which of the drop-base models to go with. I think that they make a 7/8" and 1-1/4" drop-base to clear the hood. I've also heard that a spacer is required in some cases atop the carb to help clear the choke and whatnot.

I've got an 85 stock hood.

not sure what air cleaner housing your using...

but K & N part #E-1450 fits in the factory equipped air cleaner housing.
