q-jet to edelbrock 600

I have been having problems with my q-jet lately so I went out and bought a edelbrock #1406 600 cfm carb to replace it. I plan on getting an adapter for the stock lg4 manifold and fuel line. I was wondering if someone who has done this swap could walk me through it? Im having the most problems just trying to figure out what to do with all the wiring and hoses coming off the q-jet because the edelbrock only has a couple hoses to hook up. Can I just cap the vacum hoses? what about the wiring from the top front of the carb that goes to the water neck?

By the way the car is a 1987 Z28 base model auto LG4 non-cc q-jet, no a/c, no smog, soon to have no egr after manifold and carb install.

The Edlebrock won't be using the wiring from the waterneck.
Autozone sells vacuum trees so you can hook many lines into one source if you need to.
Be sure to trace out all the lines before the swap so you know for sure which ones need full time vacuum.

Ok so I don't use the wires from the water neck how about the hoses coming from the water neck. I want to get rid of all the hoses and vacuum lines that arn't nesscary. Im going to block off the egr and get rid of all its components. Does anyone have a diagram of what hoses are what on a q-jet?

Just did a search and found that this one guy used a vacuum guage to find out which where manifold vacuum, off-idle vaccum, and low vacuum should I do the same and then hook them up to the matching ports on my edelbrock? Does this sound right?

basically yes.
If you're getting rid of EGR, any exhaust heat riser, and the factory type air-filter housing then you shouldn't need the hoses off the waterneck.

Is the hard line at the back of the carb vacuum for the brakes? Will the one from my q-jet swap right over.

Thanks for all the help, I plan on doing the swap within the next few weeks and I am trying to get everything sorted out. Also I plan on redoing the ignition and adding a open element should I do these before the carb swap to help eliminate future problems that I might blame on the carb swap.

Yes that's for the power brakes.
You may need to install a new screw-in fitting into the back of the carb and/or make a rubber hose coupler to hook the line back up.

Anyone have an idea of what type/ size of hoses I should buy to have on hand just incase some of the old ones can't be reused? Is there any throttle cables or kick down cables to buy or will the stock ones work?

3/4 braided fuel line, get an inline filter too, ...do you kno whow to hook up the elctric choke? is your distributor a Vaccum advane distributor? will your hood shut with the adapter plate? do you plan on keeping the ecm?

hose in the back is a 1/2 pipe thread. get it at auto zone or where ever.

you might need a kit of some sort for the throttle and TV cable. detent cable, kick down cable, whatever you wanna call it. make sure you get a throttle return spring.
