idle help
850 4160 Holley no choke..
Car takes a while to warm up which is understandable but how warm is warm enough?..I got the temp up to about 100F* and if Im on Park or Drive and I let go of the gas it dies.I got my wife following me around and she said black smoke was coming out constantly. But it it gets less the faster I go.There is no sputtering or hesitation.Only constant black smoke.I have to keep it above 1500RPM for it not to stall.Im thinking maybe raising the idle screw and maybe leaning the mixture??What do you think.I didnt have time to warm it up past that.Im changing the plugs this afternoon and maybe play around with it some more.FYI Vacuum is strong, power brakes work great.

with the black smoke i'd have to say its rich.keeping yous foot in it to keep it running sounds like a vacuum leak.i had my 750 about 6 sizes too rich and got black smoke but that was on acceleration. i'd check your idle mixture and resnug everything

Means fouled plugs ... again. Ignition is bad or carb is flooding.
Once the plugs get fouled it will only get progessivly worse.
No amount of driving will cure it.
You will have to buy new plugs.
need to track down the actual cause and fix it. or it will just continue to eat plugs.
Just for reference: what is the List number on the carb. On the airhorn.
try not to drive it till you get it sorted out.
Call me or Rod.
