What kind of carburetor???
What kind of carburetor???
Hey guys,
I recently purchased a house that used to be owned by a retired mechanic. He owned a repair shop that had been in his family for something like 80 years.
In any case, he left a whole bunch of stuff for me, that the owner's family didn't want, or even know what it was.
As it would turn out, I now have an assortment of 2 CC Q-Jets, a non CC Q-Jet, and five 4-Jets.
I'm trying to find a place that can help me decode these 4-Jets. I have no idea what they are.. they're all 4-bbl carburetors, but they're called a 4-Jet and not a QuadraJet.
Any ideas?
What years did these come off of?
Thanks!

4-jets were used on GM V8s in the 50's & 60's until the q-jet came along.

They're collector pieces. Hemmings would be as good a place as any to see what they're worth and to advertise them.

If they are the origional carbs off a dual quad 283 or 409 or some other factory dual quad setup {likely old Carter WCFB'S] then they are worth money (to a restorer looking for those carbs.). If they are just old factory single 4bbl carbs then they aren't actual worth much.
The cfm rating is pretty modest like 450 to 550cfm.
