got a good one here. my car is running rich and im fouling out the plugs but im backfiring thru the carb like it's lean and it will barley idle

i changed the plug wires and the power valve, played with the a/f mixture and checked the timing. the fuel bowl level is good. the dist. cap looks good im lost here

i was told could be valves, lifters,dist, or the carb took a dump. the carb is a holley 670 s/a

any help?

Check the carb for leaks that would allow liquid fuel to go into the engine.
